Changes to How We Book Appointments – Starting from February 2026

We’re making some changes to how appointments are booked at Plashet Practice to meet new NHS England requirements and to help us care for you more effectively.

Until now, appointments have been offered on a first-come, first-served basis. From February 2026, we’ll be moving to a new system that makes sure patients are seen based on their clinical needs and helps provide better continuity of care.

We also want to reduce the 8am rush and make it fairer for everyone, so you’ll get the same service whether you contact us by phone, online, or in person.

From the 2nd February 2026 all enquiries, either by phone, in person, or online, to the Practice will be entered into our online system.  Patient enquiries will then be reviewed and appointments allocated based on medical priority.

We will contact you on the same working day with the plan for your care. Please note that request submitted outside of our normal working hours will be reviewed on our next working day.

Urgent appointments

To request an urgent on the day appointment (Monday to Friday)

  • phone us on 020 8472 0473, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6.30pm
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6.30pm

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment

  • use our appointment request form, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. We will respond on the same working day provided the request is sent during opening times.
  • Use the NHS App (subject to availability)
  • phone us on 020 8472 0473, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Cancelling or moving an appointment

Please call the surgery to cancel or move the appointment, if you cannot attend. This ensures the slot can be openned for other patients.

Ensure you are on time for your scehduled appoinments to avoid having the appoinment missed.

Repeated missed appointments may lead to formal notifaction, and can lead to removal from our patients list.

Enhanced Access Service

What is Enhanced Access Service?

The Enhanced Access Service makes it easier for you to get an appointment at a time that suits you including evenings and weekends. The service offers pre-bookable, routine primary care appointments with a range of clinicians including GPs, nurses and other health care professionals.

Where will my appointment take place?

The appointments will take place from:-

 Day

Appointment Time

Appointment Location / Hub

Monday to Friday

Saturday

6.30pm to 8.00pm

9:00am to 5:00pm

Westbury Road Medical Practice or

Woodgrange Medical Practice

How do I book an appointment?

This is not a walk-in service – you must call to book an appointment via your registered GP practice reception team.

What can I be seen for?

An enhanced access service appointment is exactly like an appointment at your own GP practice.

Home visits

Home visits are for patients who are too ill or frail to attend the surgery.

If there is any doubt the doctor can discuss your problem and advise you.

Home visits should be requested before 10am if possible.
